#DrawColumbo exhibition set to draw the crowds next month in Hackney

Hackney’s Jam Bookshop, which opened last year, is to host an exhibition of art paying tribute to fictional TV detective Columbo next month, after soliciting drawings through social media.

Just One More Thing, honouring the popular detective, brought to life on screen by the late Peter Falk, opens on 4th May and runs until the 30th May 2023 at the independent shop for lovers of books, comics, illustration, reading and style.

David’s work has been printed regularly in some of the most read publications in the world, including Private Eye. He’s also successfully published a number of sold-out books and had books released by small to huge publishers, in the UK and France.

David also created the UK and Ireland-wide event Small Press Day, launched in 2016, which takes place on one day a year, in dozens of shops to promote the next wave of small press publishing creators. This year’s event will take place on Saturday 5th August.

Just One More Thing has attracted a wide variety of online submissions, utilising the #DrawColumbo hashtag on Twitter and Instagram.

Art on show includes work by Remus & Kiki (Remus Buznea & Kyriaki Kyriakou), Jaques Vallotton and many more.

“So many Columbos is going to be a fantastic sight,” says David.

The bookshop at 61A Hackney Road is currently host to Hey! Mituan, a comic art exhibition from illustrator Aaren, comic art focused on daily life with her dog – which runs until 30th April. The Just One More Thing exhibition will be followed by GarbagePailKids (“A Truly Disgusting Exhibition of the Cult Trading Cards”) in June.
