Glass negatives of art and cartoons by Eagle artist Frank Humphris are currently being offered on eBay, spotted by downthetubes contributor Richard Sheaf.
As well as “Riders of the Range“, Frank would also go on to illustrate the “Blackbow the Cheyenne” strip in Eagle in the 1960s, but Richard, who’s detailing what’s for sale on his Boys Adventure Blog, notes the glass negatives pre-date his comics work, some dating back to the 1940s.
The Windsor-based seller, who’s previously sold original sketches by Humphris, has posted images of the negatives, but they look better as they may have been printed, so here are some, both as offered and inverted.
