Edinburgh Comic Con: Four weeks to go

Edinburgh Comic Con 2015
After its inaugural event in 2014 under the remarkably ill-conceived name of “Something Bl**dy Awesome” the newly renamed Edinburgh Comic Con returns to the Edinburgh University Students’ Union Potterrow building at Edinburgh’s Bristo Square in four weeks time, the weekend after Easter, 11-12 April 2015.

Edinburgh Comic Con is a two-day multi-media convention with the emphasis on comics and has a mixture of comic creators and actors attending.

British comic creators include Doctor Who and Planet Of The Apes artist Dan McDaid, Star Wars: Clone Wars artist Tanya Roberts, Good Cop Bad Cop writer Jim Alexander, and Marvel UK and Marvel US artist Kev Hopgood. Creators from across the pond include Avengers artist Jim Cheung, Justice League United artist Mike McKone, and Guardians of the Galaxy artist Gerardo Sandoval.

From the world of film and television come original Doctor Who actor Fraser Hines (companion Jamie McCrimmon), new Doctor Who actresses Neve McIntosh (Madame Vastra) and Caitlin Blackwood (Amelia Pond), Star Wars actor Angus MacInnes, and Games of Thrones actresses Josephine Gillan and Pixie Le Knot.

To raise money for the Midlothian Foodbank a live auction will be held over the weekend for items such as original comic pages, collectible figures and 9.8 CGC comics. The host of the auction will be Sean Kelly from the Storage Hunters reality TV series.

There are more details of Edinburgh Comic Con on their website and Facebook page.

Tickets for the Edinburgh Comic Con are available to buy from the event’s website and cost £18.50/£15.00 for the weekend and £10.00/£7.50 for the individual days. Pre-purchased tickets will have priority access at the door.
