Mattel Creations, the design-driven platform and direct to consumer site for adult collectors from Mattel, Inc., unveiled the new Barbie x Doctor Who dolls at MCM London Comic Con this weekend, and shared Fifteenth Doctor Ncuti Gatwa’s first reactions.
Mattel Creations is at Stand #S1801 at the event this weekend, offering immersive brand spaces, designer meet-and-greets, photo ops, gaming zones, and never-before-seen product reveals, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Masters of the Universe and Monster High, continuing to build authentic connections with fans.
With costume inspired by series one that debuted in 2024, and sculpted in the character likenesses of Ncuti Gatwa, who stars as the Doctor, and Millie Gibson, who plays his first companion, Ruby Sunday, the company says this fan-first reveal at MCM London Comic-Con marks a thrilling continuation of the Barbie brand’s legacy in pop culture and storytelling.
In a special reaction video, a clearly delighted Ncuti Gatwa shared his thoughts on seeing his Barbie doll for the first time.
“Barbie is iconic, so to see a Barbie iteration of the Doctor was emotional, surreal, incredible and I can’t wipe the smile off my face,” he said. “I hope kids out there are able to enjoy the doll and see themselves in it and think ‘I can do anything’”.
The highly detailed Barbie dolls bring the Doctor and Ruby to life through signature styling and authentic detail. The Barbie Fifteenth Doctor Doll (AmazonUK Affiliate Link) features a face sculpted in the likeness of Ncuti Gatwa. He wears an iconic look with a striped shirt, sleek pants, a long brown jacket and white sneakers. This design captures the bold, expressive energy of the Doctor.
The Barbie Ruby Sunday Doll, sculpted in the likeness of Millie Gibson, is dressed in a furry-trimmed jacket, red shirt, plaid skirt, black tights and boots. This ensemble reflects Ruby’s style and spirit as the Doctor’s first companion.
Mattel released their the first Doctor Who Limited Edition Barbie doll of The Thirteenth Doctor in 2019, which quickly sold out.
