In light of the UK government’s advice to stop non-essential contact in order to contain the further spread of coronavirus, London’s House of Illustration has announced it will be closed to the public until further notice.
Events due to take place during the closure will be cancelled and ticket-holders will be contacted.
London’s Cartoon Museum has postponed all events and workshops.
The closure comes as measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 are stepped up across the UK, with Lancaster LitFest, which featured a range of illustrator-related events and workshops now cancelled.
The fate of many upcoming comic-related events across the UK remains in doubt and we urge you to check their official web sites or social media for updates.
The current measures may yet be extended still further into 2020 and downthetubes is aware event organisers are carefully monitoring government guidance, although in part some of it remains vague, which is going to have a major impact on freelance creators incomes as well as publishers.
“House of Illustration will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so for visitors, volunteers and staff,” the organisation said in a short statement.
“We thank you for your patience and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we can.”
