Launching exclusively at MACC-POW! 2025 is GOOF 2, a smashing anthology of comic goodness curated by Marc Jackson, featuring strips and other fun by Hilary Barta, Tor Freeman, Mat Greaves, Asimina Hollingworth, Mister Hope, Eliza Kinkz, James Kochalka, Jim Medway, Barbara Niig, Johnny Ryan, Tom Scioli, Rachael Smith, Lew Stringer – and, of course, Marc himself!
And if you think the lineup alone is amazing, wait until you see the comic itself, because it’s a real treat, packed with some great strips, accompanied by some ridiculous “Activity Pages” that make for a perfect gift for kids at MACC-POW!… and any time of year, frankly.
Right from the get go, with Tor Freeman’s “Tarzan the Teenager” opening this 24-page comic, plus “Deja-Vu Man” from Lew Stringer, “Ha Ha Harold” by Marc Jackson, the stunning “Thrilling Space Stories” by Hilary Barta, you just know this is a very special comic, and so much fun, too, which, let’s face it, we could do with more of right now!

There are plenty of treats on offer here, not least of them the first UK publication of work by Swiss cartoonist Barbara Niig (you can’t go wrong with a comic for kids tiled “The Butt Burps of Doom”). So if you’re at MACC-POW next weekend, be sure to pick up a copy!
GOOF is funded by Macclesfield Town Council and LICAF, and curated, edited and produced by cartoonist Marc Jackson.

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more.
