Italy’s cultural association Fumettomania are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Jack Kirby‘s birth – and they’re inviting comic creators worldwide to join the comics tribute on their web site, launching 28th August and running for the whole of September 2017.
Delivery of drawings and articles is open until 15th September and depending on what’s received there may also be a physical exhibition of some art next year.
How to participate:
• Illustration must be devoted to one of the many comic book characters invented by Jack Kirby during his long career. You can also redesign a cover of Kirby. Free technique, free format, paper or digital, of your choice.
• Writers: If want to write a short critical text on Jack Kirby or one of his many characters, the article length must be 600 words (3600 characters, including spaces).
Send image and article files to associazione.fumettomania@gmail.com
“If we succeed in collecting good quality material, in January 2018 we will create an exhibition in the Messinian Hinterland,” Mario Benenati, the founder of Fumettomania, tells us.
Copyright of imagery or articles sent will remain with the creator, who is free to do what they want with their work after it has appeared on the Fumettomania blog.
“Of course, if someone wants to give us his design to raise funds for our 2018 projects we will be happy!” says Mario.
• The first episode of the Jack Kirby special will be published here on the Fumettomania blog on 28th August
• The address to which any paperwork is to be sent is Associazione culturale Fumettomania, presso Arch. Mario Benenati, Vicolo Basilicò n.6, CAP 99051 – Barcellona P.G., Messina, Sicily
