As well as some never-before-seen artwork, this special limited Christmas edition for 2017 includes several bonus festive pieces.
Join Jessica on a journey through her influences and inspirations, from Bette Davis to Bowie, and experience the ArtyMiss collection as you’ve never seen it before.
Jessica, whose work we’ve featured several times on downthetubes, has spent over 30 years in entertainment, performing in theatre, comedy, television and radio. Now a critically acclaimed comic creator and artist, and glad to be at ICE 2017, she describes herself as a “seasoned” multi-faceted entertainer with a career of many twists and turns.
“I’ve gone from teenage jazz singer, to television impressionist (in the days when light entertainment was at its Saturday night best!), to cult Doctor Who guest star, leading West End musical theatre actress,” she says, “and now, in the last four years, a comic creator and published graphic novelist.”
As well as A Star Is Drawn, you’ll be able to pick up her previous works (including comics It Girl and Vivacity, and graphic novel Elsie Harris Picture Palace), and get a first look at some of the art for her upcoming memoir Life Drawing – a Life under Lights, which has recently achieved 100% crowdfunding and will be published next year with Unbound.
One of the UK’s premier comics conventions, ICE is devoted only to the medium of comics in all of its forms and currently host events across the UK. Creators at ICE Birmingham this year include some of the biggest names in comics from both sides of the Atlantic, including the only UK appearance of the decade from Marvel and Star Wars cover artist John Tyler Christopher who will be signing all day for free and super star Spider-Man writer Dan Slott.
