Kelvin Gosnell and Oliver Frey’s “Terminal Man” to be completed in SHIFT magazine

Working with Fusion Retro Books, independent comics publisher GetMyComics has announced plans to republish the amazing science fiction strip, “Terminal Man”, written by Kelvin Gosnell with art by the late Oliver Frey – and complete the story that began in the computer magazine, CRASH, back in February 1984.

Originally serialised in CRASH magazine, in “Terminal Man”, when the spaceliner Arcadia crashes in a planetary system unknown to man, a very strange hero steps up to lead the surviving passengers in a quest for their safe return to Earth – Cross: computer, virus, man…

The “Terminal Man” series was reprinted in Zzap!64 magazine in 1988, and published in comic book format in 2012 by Reckless Books.

“Terminal Man” forms just part of the lineup for SHIFT Volume 3, launching in 2025, available in comic shops and newsagents across the UK.

“In collaboration with Fusion Retro Books, we will not only run the 48 page first story, but also the 12 pages of the second unfinished series,” publisher Adrian Clarke says, “which will then be completed by us.

“More news soon on the sensational creators that will pick up the storyline from Oli, who sadly passed away in 2023.”

Fusion Retro Books published a book, CRASH: The Legacy last year, celebrating the art, artists and legacy of the British computer games magazine CRASH. Fusion Retro Books are also publishers of FUSION magazine.

Fusion Retro Books, owned and run by Chris Wilkins, signed an agreement with Roger Kean and the late Oliver Frey for the transfer of the digital rights of the art produced by Oliver for the hugely popular magazines CRASH, ZZAP, The Games MachineFearAmtixCPCSega Force and N-Force back in 2020. In addition, the contract covered the respective magazine logos, oli bugs, section intros, game maps, posters, calendar images, review awards (SIZZLER, GOLD MEDAL, AMITX Accolode and CRASH SMASH) and any other art produced by Oli in each issue of these magazines.
