Lakes Comics Festival “Sculptor” competition – win tickets to Scott McCloud’s London event

The Sculptor - Cover

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival is giving away two fantastic prizes. Win a copy of previous Festival guest Scott McCloud’s brilliant new graphic novel The Sculptor, out now from SelfMade Hero – and two tickets for Scott McCloud: The Sculptor talk where Scott McCloud visits the British Library in London to discuss The Sculptor, his first graphic novel for nearly 10 years on Friday 6th March 2015. (Travel costs not included)

In The Sculptor, David Smith is giving his life for his art – literally. Thanks to a deal with Death, the young sculptor gets his childhood wish: to sculpt anything he can imagine with his bare hands. But now that he only has 200 days to live, deciding what to create is harder than he thought, and discovering the love of his life at the eleventh hour isn’t making it any easier.

This is a story of desire taken to the edge of reason and beyond; of the frantic, clumsy dance steps of young love; and a gorgeous portrait of the world’s greatest city. It’s also about the small, warm, human moment of everyday life. Scott McCloud wrote the book on how comics work, now he vaults into great fiction with a breathtaking new work.

If you buy one graphic novel this month, it should be this stunning, huge story, beautifully told and drawn.

• The winner of the competition will be drawn from the Festival’s Newsletter Subscribers on Friday 21st February. For your chance to win simply sign up to their newsletter here
