Free Comic Book Day is scheduled for 14th August 2021 this year, and today, Friday 30th April, is your last chance to encourage your local comic book shop to order copies of 2000AD‘s all-star Judge Dredd special issue.
2000AD Presents All Star Judge Dredd will be a free full colour 32-page issue dedicated to stories from the universe of the iconic future lawman Judge Dredd, with big name creators and previews of this autumn’s hottest graphic novels.
This issue will kick off with a bone-rattling all new stand-alone Dredd caper from superstar writer Al Ewing (Immortal Hulk) and artist Caspar Wijngaard (Star Wars).
This issue will also include teasers for Rebellion’s epic Fall 2021 graphic novels.
Witness the birth of the world of Judge Dredd in an incendiary preview of upcoming prequel graphic novel Dreadnoughts by Michael Carroll, with art by John Higgins.
And fan-favourite character Judge Hershey leaves Mega-City One and travels to the ends of the earth to dispense her own brand of justice in long-anticipated blockbuster spin-off, Hershey: Disease by Rob Williams (Suicide Squad) and Simon Fraser (Doctor Who).
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Free Comic Book Day, which aims to support and promote specialist comic book stores.
Rather than the usual date in May, this year’s FCBD will take place on Saturday 14th August 2021. The event has been moved in the hope that much of the disruption related to COVID-19 will have passed.
The order period for FCBD titles ends on 30 April. This issue will only be available from participating comic book stores, so make sure you tell your local comic book retailer to order enough copies of 2000AD Presents All Star Judge Dredd so that you don’t miss out.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
