The latest issue of TOXIC magazine from StoryhouseEgmont, on sale now in WHSmith and other newsagents, features a Marvel Mission Arena TCG introductory pack cover mount, promoting the newly launched game.
Marvel Mission Arena is the new Marvel-themed trading card game, designed and produced by Cicaboom, distributed by KAP Toys in the UK, combining the appeal of the superhero brand with a multi-level depth of play. The game is ideal for satisfying both the enjoyment of children aged six and up and the expectations of the most demanding gamers.
The collection consists of 259 cards including common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare and secret, featuring curated illustrations of the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe
Marvel Mission Arena was launched at Toy Fair this January by KAP Toys, each card is simultaneously a collector’s item and a game tool. The range comprises booster packs with an SRP of £4.99 and starter decks at SRP £19.99.
TOXIC No. 377 features an introductory pack of three cards for the game, coinciding with the launch of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 in UK cinemas from 3rd may, and the launch of the Marvel Mission Arena game in the UK.
Retailers who carry TOXIC magazine include grocery retailers Co-op, Tesco, Lidl, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda. A more specialist news distribution will see the cards reach into WH Smith, Spar and a number of independent stores throughout the UK.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
