Small Press Day is back next month, but this year London’s Gosh! comic shop have cranked things up, big time, and turned the annual celebration of indie comics into a full on Festival – with a huge line up of comic guests.
As previously reported, the yearly event organised by Broken Frontier, Alternative Press and David Ziggy Greene takes place in comic shops across the country, all celebrating their local independent talent, exciting emerging creators and wonderful self-published artists.
“At Gosh! this year, we’ll be hosting Small Press Day Festival with over 40 guests featuring the country’s most wonderful and talented artists”, the Gosh! team tell us. “Throughout the day, we’ll have several signings back-to-back, where you can meet the artists, check out their work and treat yourself to some lovely goodies! There will be comics, zines, prints, badges, stickers! Plenty of amazing items on show!
“It’s a great opportunity to find some exciting new comics and support your local artists, too.”
Throughout the day, the Gosh! guests will even be working on a comic together, right in front of your very eyes.

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
