Organisers Wicked Comics have announced some fantastic deals for Fans and Creators travelling to this year’s Malta Comic Con, spanning over the weekend of Saturday 2nd November and 3rd November 2019 – so if you’re after a bit of winter sun, then here’s a heads up.
Al Ewing
To be held in one of Malta’s biggest conventions centres, the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre in ta’ Qali, the event always offers a host of international guests.

The announced line up so far includes Erik Arreaga, Nick Brokenshire, Dan Cornwell, Eoin Coveney, Al Ewing, Gene Ha, John Higgins, Sally Jane Hurst, Nikos Koutsis, John Layman, David Millgate, Janine van Moosel, Jessica Martin, Tim Perkins, Renee Rienties, Mark Stafford and Ellen Stubbings, to name but a few.
Fans travelling and opting to book these packages are in for a treat. They get to spend a weekend with the artists, join in the behind the scenes of the convention as well as have the opportunity to enjoy some of Malta’s beautiful landmarks. Wicked Comics will book the lodging, the transport for the convention and the convention tickets.

Creators exhibiting during the Malta Comic Con on such packages will be treated as guests and advertised as guests, their profiles advertised on the Wicked Comics/Malta Comic Con website, staying at the same hotel and sharing transport with other guests.
Renee Rienties
Exhibitors and their respective partners will also be invited to all official Wicked Comics activities related to the Malta Comic Con Program, including gatherings and the tour on Monday after the event.
These packages include transport from the Airport to the hotel and vice versa and will be arranged on individual basis depending on arrival and departure times.
Ellen Stubbings
Food and drinks for the whole duration of the exhibitor’s stay are not included in these packages.

The Single Fan Accommodation Package (€135 per person) includes the following: Accommodation in a hotel in Buġibba (tourist area) on Bed and Breakfast basis for three nights (Friday 1st November, Saturday 2nd November and Sunday 3rd November); Two Day Ticket to the Malta Comic Convention (Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November between 10.00 am – 6.00 pm Saturday and 11.00 am – 7.00 pm Sunday); Return Transport from the hotel to the Convention Centre (applicable for both Saturday and Sunday). Optional additional accommodation dates available at only €40 per night per person.
The Shared Fan Accommodation Package (€115 per person): Only applicable for two persons travelling and sharing a hotel room together, this includes the following: accommodation in a hotel in Buġibba (tourist area) on Bed and Breakfast basis for three nights (Friday 1st November, Saturday 2nd November and Sunday 3rd November); Two Day Ticket to the Malta Comic Convention (Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November between 10.00 am – 6.00 pm Saturday and 11.00 am – 7.00 pm Sunday); Return Transport from the hotel to the convention Centre (applicable for both Saturday and Sunday). Optional additional accommodation dates available at €35 per night per person.
• The Single Creator Accommodation Package includes the following: accommodation in a hotel in Bugibba (tourist area) on Bed and Breakfast basis for four nights (Friday 1st November, Saturday 2nd November, Sunday 3rd November and Monday 4th November); stand at the Malta Comic Convention (Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November between 10.00 am – 6.00 pm Saturday and 11.00 am – 7.00 pm Sunday); return Transport from the hotel to the Convention Centre (applicable for, Saturday and Sunday, for the Convention and for the Monday tour, an interesting trip to some of Malta’s touristic landmarks. This Total Package rate including table costs €165. A fee of €30 per person per night is applicable if you decide to extend your stay. This package does not include food or drinks for the whole duration of your stay.
• The Shared Accommodation Package (Creator & Creator or Creator & Partner): accommodation in a hotel in Bugibba (tourist area) on Bed and Breakfast basis for 4 nights (Friday 1st November, Saturday 2nd November, Sunday 3rd November and Monday 4th November); stand at the Malta Comic Convention (Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rdNovember between 10.00 am – 6.00 pm Saturday and 11.00 am – 7.00 pm Sunday); ; return Transport from the hotel to the Convention Centre (applicable for, Saturday and Sunday, for the Convention and for the Monday tour, details as above. Total Package rate including table costs €270 for two persons which amounts to €135 per person. A fee of €25 per person per night is applicable if you decide to extend your stay. The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
