Mark Waid and Barry Kitson’s “Empire” returns in a brand new collection from British publisher GetMyComics

Not Final Cover

Independent British comics publisher and distributor GetMyComics has announced the impending publication collection of the first series of industry titans Mark Waid and Barry Kitson‘s award-nominated Empire.

The new collection of the story, suggested for older readers, is the latest in the company’s line of SHIFT magazine special editions – a series highlighting the work of a number of publishers and creators, and bring it to an unsuspecting public.

In the Eisner Award-nominated Empire, Golgoth rules the world ― or does he? The armoured despot thinks he controls most of the populated Earth, ruling through military might and fear. But he can’t even trust his own super-powered staff, as some plot to free themselves from his grip. It’s a tumultuous time as the balance of power begins to shift…

First published between 2000 and 2004 by Gorilla Comics and DC Comics, Empire was last revived through a partnership between IDW Publishing and Thrillbent, which also saw the publication of a second series, Empire: Uprising, initially as a digital series on the Thrillbent web site.

GetMyComics is bringing Empire back in its standard oversized SHIFT magazine format, on high quality paper, aiming to showcase Barry’s stunning art and Mark’s brilliant storytelling and sports an all new cover by Barry.

Clocking in at 180 plus pages, this collection will not be on newsagent shelves, but it is available now for pre-order direct from GMC, due to be dispatched in November.
