Mighty-and-always-entertaining Michael Moorcock talks about the second volume of Titan Comics UK’s global re-release of his comic book opus Moorcock’s Multiverse in a new Forbidden Planet TV videocast, featuring career-best artwork from the great Walter Simonson. Plus there’s background from another upcoming Titan/Moorcock/Simonson project: Elric – The Making of a Sorcerer, too.
“As usual, we also get into a whole bunch of other things, including the dark side of late stage capitalism,” says show host Andrew Sumner. “Mike’s upcoming short story, ‘Wigan’ (plus Wigan itself and the majesty of Bowen pies’ chunky steak pie); the Three Peaks Challenge; the sheer brilliance of Walter Simonson, dream couches, Moorcock & Sumner’s Hyperbolic Chambers (TM); Mike’s undiminished singing voice; Blossom Dearie’s last gig; The Scaffold’s Lily the Pink and Roger McGough’s poetry; Pete Brown & His Battered Ornaments; the glory of Liverpool’s science-fiction and music scene; watching the boxing at Liverpool Stadium; visiting Apple Corps Ltd, turning down George Harrison’s money and much, much more!”

Titan began publishing Michael Moorcock’s Multiverse series as hardcover collections last year. The Michael Moorcock Library: Multiverse, Volume One collected Michael Moorcock’s Multiverse #1-6 in one 160-page volume. The Michael Moorcock Library: Multiverse, Volume Two, was released earlier this month.
Each issue of the 12-issue series contains a chapter each of three different storylines, set in different times and places and featuring characters from Moorcock’s Eternal Champion novels.
The series was written by Moorcock with art by Walter Simonson, Mark Reeve, and John Ridgway, each of whom worked on a different storyline. By the end of the series, the three stories were woven together into a single conclusion. The series was originally published by the DC imprint Helix, beginning in 1997, and in 1999, DC’s Vertigo imprint collected it as a single trade paperback, which is long out of print.
In Elric – The Making of a Sorcerer, by Michael Moorcock and illustrated by Walter Simonson, is due for re-release from Titan Comics in July. Fans can witness the birth of a legend as the untold origin story of Elric and his epic ascension to the throne of Melniboné is finally revealed.
Taking place immediately before the opening of the novel Elric of Melniboné, this stunning epic saga reveals the untold origin story of the classic sword-and-sorcery character Elric and his transformation from a spoilt, arrogant youth to the future legendary Prince of Melniboné.
The saga follows Elric on a voyage of discovery through dream quests to the dragon caves of Imrryr, and to realms undreamed of by man where Elric must battle with giants and make peace with the leaders of otherwordly kingdoms, all the while fighting off the evil intentions of his bitter eternal rival for the throne, his cousin Yyrkoon.
Witness the literal making of a sorcerer as Elric learns not only the ways of the warrior, but also how to protect his homeland with the power of his mighty magic and that of his sword, Stormbringer.
