Here’s a wonderful poster by marvellous Mike Medaglia to promote the Lakes International Comic Arts Festival – taking place next weekend – which will be featured in one of the weekend long event’s exhibitions and posted around Kendal. Prints will be on sale for a small donation, and the poster looks set to be used as part of wider promotions to promote the area to tourists.

“The Lake District National Park Authority and Cumbria Tourism are keen to take it up afterwards too as a way of promoting the Lakes through comic art medium,” enthuses Festival Director Julie Tait.

Comics artist, illustrator and Zen Buddhist, Mike Medaglia’s book One Year Wiser is published by SelfMadeHero, a collection of 365 daily meditations adapted into full page illustrations. There is also a One Year Wiser colouring book, with a weekly illustration to colour-in.

He also draw regular comics for The Huffington Post about Zen and modern life and is the art editor at Jessica Kingsley Publishers, working on a range of comics and graphic novels about topics like chronic pain, dementia, Aspergers Syndrome, PTSD and anxiety.

His current ongoing comics project is Last Days of Nobodies, about the last days in the life of Vincent van Gogh, Emily Dickinson and Franz Kafka. I post a new page every Wednesday and you can read it online here.
