Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler, League of Gentlemen co-creator and co-star Steve Pemberton, along with celebrities including Joanna Trollope, Barbara Taylor Bradford and Madness have united to support literacy.
All have donated items to an auction on behalf of the National Literacy Trust is holding an auction from 27th January to raise vital funds. Members of the public can bid online for an exciting assortment of money-can’t-buy prizes, including:
- A Doctor Who signed shooting script for actor Steve Pemberton who played Strackman Lux in the episodes Silence of the Library / Forest of the Dead written by Steven Moffat. Signed by Steve Pemberton
- Visit the studio of Axel Scheffler, illustrator of The Gruffalo and receive a unique signed piece of artwork drawn especially for you
- Rehearsal script for The League of Gentleman Christmas Special 2000, signed by Steve Pemberton, the series co-creator and co-star.

- Handwritten, signed and framed Valentines poem penned by Wendy Cope
- Invitation for two to the Man Booker Prize Awards Ceremony
The National Literacy Trust is a charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. The charity works in schools and with families across the UK providing books, storytelling events, workshops for struggling teenagers and support for families.
