Panini UK is to launch a new, monthly Cartoon Network magazine on Thursday (15th October), featuring Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball and Ben 10 – related content, as well as the channel’s many other shows.
The first issue of the new 36-page magazine will include four free gifts and will include puzzles, stories and activities devoted to the irreverent humour and fun of Cartoon Network.
The first issue’s comic strip features Gumball and Uncle Grandpa and we’re told future issues will contain other properties such as The Regular Show, Clarence and Adventure Time.
While some of the strip is bought in, we’re told Panini also hopes to include some strip originated in the UK.
Targeted at children aged six to ten, the title will be released in other European, Middle Eastern and African countries in 2016
“We know that Cartoon Network fans just love our content from TV ratings and website traffic, the level of interaction with our shows online and in the mobile space is extraordinary,” said Johanne Broadfield, vice president, Cartoon Network Enterprises EMEA.
“This magazine, developed by Panini who are the experts at connecting with kids in this space, offers a new ways for our fans to be entertained and have fun with their favourite shows and characters.”
Jess Tadmor, head of marketing, Panini UK, added: “We’ve really enjoyed working with Cartoon Network Enterprises EMEA on bringing this magazine to market and we’re delighted to be extending our magazine portfolio with this launch. We have a great package for Cartoon Network fans and believe that the magazine is a natural extension to the brilliant content on channel and on the Cartoon Network website.”
Panini UK’s line-up (this list based on its chaotic web site) includes Disney Junior, Disney Presents, Disney’s Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, Doctor Who Adventures, Marvel Play Time, Power Rangers Magazine, Scooby Doo, Strike-It!, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tom and Jerry and Ultimate Spider-Man Magazine.
Along with Doctor Who Magazine, which features an originated comic strip (as does Doctor Who Adventures), it also publishes a number of teen-oriented Marvel collections: Astonishing Spider-Man, Avengers Universe, Essential X-Men, Marvel Legends, Mighty World of Marvel, Incredible Hulks and Wolverine and Deadpool.
