We’re pleased to report that former British comics editor Barrie Tomlinson, whose credits include Tiger and New Eagle, is on the mend after his stroke in February and, touched by comments he received via social media, has asked downthetubes to publisher this quick note…
I was very moved to read the kind comments published just after I had my stroke in February of this year. I am pleased to say that I have made a good recovery and I have just been given the go-ahead to drive again. I’m sure all the nice things people said have helped my recovery.
I am now taking it easy and I have had to give up editing the local village magazine. I’m sad about this but I’m having a go at designing some greetings cards. Years ago, I sold a lot of card designs. So it’s a happy return for me.
I’m still keeping in touch with the world of comics. It’s very rewarding to know there is still so much interest in the comics I produced. That’s also a boost to getting well!
Best wishes to all…
We’re delighted to hear Barrie’s health is improving. He’s been an incredible help to all manner of comics fans keen to know more about the history of British comics and a true friend of this web site. We wish him all the best
