Specialist children’s publisher Signature Publishing – publishers of Dinosaur Action, My Little Pony, Transformers and more – has picked up the licence to publish The World Of Dinosaur Roar! magazine, working with Nurture Rights.
Aimed at pre-schoolers aged 3-5 years, The World Of Dinosaur Roar! magazine – previously published by Redan – claims to be the only dedicated dinosaur magazine for pre-schoolers. Its content is created in association with one of the world’s leading natural history museums, with all dinosaur facts verified by the Department of Earth Sciences at London’s Natural History Museum.
Dinosaur Roar! was originally created by author Henrietta Stickland and Paul Stickland, the author, artist, illustrator and designer of many popular children’s picture and pop up books, a series first published by Ragged Bears Publishing in 1994 and has been described by its peers as a “modern classic” and “a pre-schooler’s introduction to dinosaurs”.
Dinosaur Roar! features a series of colourful dinosaurs with rhyming text that teaches young children about opposites and individual differences, featuring a cast of characters Paul says he didn’t want to be too scary – just scary enough. (And yes, we know the riot of colours might alarm some palaeontologists but, why not? No one knew what colours dinosaurs actually were).
The book has sold over five million copies worldwide and has been translated into more than 30 languages. It’s now published by Macmillan Children’s Books in paperback and board book format.
Nurture Rights is a kids’ entertainment company created by Peter Curtis and Nick Barrington that launched in 2013, when it also acquired Dinosaur Roar! and began developing it into the World of Dinosaur Roar! project, a series of children’s books and characters created by Peter Curtis, produced in association with the Natural History Museum in London.
The World of Dinosaur Roar! magazine aims to demystify dinosaurs for children, anchoring them in their world with age appropriate language and facts. There is also a feature where children can ask an expert a dinosaur question.
Every issue will be “packed with fun and educational features that, along with the exclusive and highly-collectable dinosaur toy, will take children on a journey of exploration, discovery and pre-historic fun!”
“We’re so excited to work with Nurture Rights and create a magazine featuring such loved and iconic children’s books and characters as those from The World of Dinosaur Roar!” says Amanda Clifford, Signature Publishing’s Editorial Director. “The quality of the beautiful artwork, outstanding facts and fun features is a combination that will make The World of Dinosaur Roar! magazine sure to enthral, engage and educate young children.”
“We are delighted to be working with Signature Publishing on our new monthly magazine for The World of Dinosaur Roar!,” says Nick Barrington, Managing Director of Nurture Rights, “Signature Publishing has an unparalleled reputation as a specialist children’s publisher and we look forward to working with them on developing The World of Dinosaur Roar! into the must-have dinosaur magazine for pre-schoolers.”
The World Of Dinosaur Roar! is created by Peter Curtis and inspired by the literary picture book classic Dinosaur Roar! created by Paul and Henrietta Stickland which has sold millions of copies worldwide and has been translated into more than 30 languages. The magazine is the perfect brand extension, alongside digital and live events, to the new series of books now published by Macmillan Children’s Books, say the publishers.
