Book Palace Books has opened orders for the latest limited edition Carol Day newspaper collection, Last of The Line, from publisher Slingsby Bros, Ink!, which will be released later this year.
If you’re a dedicated fan of this beautiful newspaper strip created by David Wright, first published in the Daily Mail between 10th September 1956 and 25th May 1967, you should preorder now, before the 16th March 2025 cut off.

Slingsby Bros, Ink!’s first printing of the recently released Carol Day Showcase, launched at the Orlando Comic Expo, sold out rapidly on eBay, an indication of how sought after these books are, despite the high cover price – which reflects the physical size of the books, quality and work involved in their production.
(The team at Slingsby Bros, Ink! tell us it may be reprinted later this year, but there are no guarantees).
For those unfamiliar, Carol Day is a fashion model, elegant and assured in a world of intrigue, vividly brought to life in this much-acclaimed newspaper strip with multi-layered adult storylines and superbly detailed and atmospheric artwork.
A wonderful newspaper strip, with its combination of sophisticated themes and stories, rounded characters and always magnificent art, Carol Day transcends even the best American strips of the time, and yet, strangely, despite being sold internationally, it was never syndicated in the United States.
Following up on the now sold out collection, Riverside Racket, the second Carol Day Story Book will be Last of The Line, the 13th story, which ran in 1960.
“We originally planned to publish Money Matters as the second volume, but Roger Clark lost track of several of the scans,” the publisher says, “so whilst we hunt those down we are going forward with Last of The Line, an excellent story from the same period as Money Matters.”

Last of The Line will be the same format as Riverside Racket, the first story book. It will contain the complete story reproduced from the original art in the original size, continuing the publisher’s founding principle. In addition, it will include a brief introduction.
Slingsby Bros, Ink! plan to release Last of The Line in the second quarter 2025. Pre-orders end on 31st March, at which time they will set the print run and go to print, hoping to ship in the same quarter.
David Wright’s Carol Day: Last of The Line is a companion volume to the large format books: David Wright’s Carol Day: Lance Hallam and David Wright’s Carol Day: Jack Slingsby.

To store and display the story books, the publisher has also designed a slipcase, with cover art by Brian Bolland, that will fit the first three story books. It will match the Lance Hallam and Jack Slingsby books on your shelf. The slipcase will also be available in Q2 2025.

Slingsby Bros, Ink! are a small publisher that focuses on promoting great comics that might otherwise get lost in the blizzard of new material and the latest fan craze. “When we see something we love, we’re compelled to introduce it to other comic fans, whether it’s an obscure comic strip from decades ago or a contemporary graphic novel.”
Their first publications were related to the classic British comic strip Carol Day, published in the 1950s and 1960s. In 2023 they published their first Carol Day art book and two ebooks.
They are also publishers of the stunning English language edition of In Search of Lost Tintin by Ricardo Leite, an amazing autobiographical fantasy about the artist’s lifelong journey to write and draw comics, first published in 2022 in French and Portuguese.
Ricardo’s love of comics has informed and directed his life. In 2013, an exciting trip to Belgium for a visit to Brussels and the Hergé Museum led him to weave the threads of a grand tribute to the world of Comics as he travels through the symbolic and cultural universes that have enchanted him throughout his life. The result is his graphic novel In Search of Lost Tintin, a conscious echo of Marcel Proust’s masterpiece, In Search of Lost Time. Ricardo describes his graphic novel as a grand psychological reflection on the art of comics, memory and time, an “autobiographical fantasy.”
As he travels, Ricardo has an ongoing imaginary dialogue about the art, technique and history of comics with the great creators, particularly seeking advice in relation to his own frustrations in trying to become a published comic artist. Sometimes these conversations are based on real encounters, while other times they are inspired by wide reading. Will Eisner, Winsor McCay, Joe Kubert, Art Spiegelman, Scott McCloud, Chris Ware and many others participate in Ricardo’s return to his dream of creating and drawing comics.
Ricardo’s quest stands for all of us who have struggled with their path in life, and particularly for those who have spent a lifetime obsessed with comics.
