Rebellion Film Studios, the film production arm of Oxford-based Rebellion Developments, owners of 2000AD, Judge Dredd Megazine and recently-launched humour title Monster Fun, and hundreds of British comic titles and characters, has announced it is now a Filming In England partner.
Filming In England is a partnership of organisations based outside the capital which launched in 2020, set up by Creative England and funded by the British Film Institute. Among the different partners of the scheme are local authorities, locations, facilities and studios.
Founded in 1992 by brothers Jason Kingsley OBE and Chris Kingsley OBE, Rebellion is one of Europe’s biggest independent cross media studios, producing content across video games, film, and TV production as well comic book and fiction publishing. From creating global bestselling video game series Sniper Elite and Zombie Army, to publishing the world-renowned comic book 2000AD, and partnering with film and game industry pioneers to develop virtual production, Rebellion is at the forefront of Britain’s creative industries.

Rebellion Film Studios set up its first studio in November 2018, renovating an old printing works, to produce film and tv series based on its 2000AD characters. Since 2003, Rebellion has also owned Audiomotion, a multi-stage studio specialising in the provision of motion capture services to the Game Development, Film and Television industries.
Earlier this year, the company also bought Newspaper House in Osney Mead, previously home to the Oxford Mail, which has moved to new premises on the same industrial estate.
The company now boasts six variable stages across 50,000 square feet of shooting space, a further 10,000 square feet of workshop space, and 12,000 square feet of production offices.
Rebellion also offer extensive VFX facilities, utilising their 30 years of experience developing games, already utilising the space to produce trailers for their games, including Evil Genius 2 and Sniper Elite 5.
“Rebellion Studios is delighted and proud to become a Filming in England Partner,” commented Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion. “We have a real passion for film and TV production and we look forward to welcoming filming to our dedicated production studios in Didcot.
“The facilities and our partnership with Filming in England reflect Rebellion’s commitment to assisting in the creation of great drama productions. We have already hosted a number of productions and look forward to welcoming more partners in the future.”
