“Riley’s Rebels”, the feistiest new characters in the Judge Dredd Universe, made their debut in the latest Judge Dredd Megazine (Issue 474) this week.
Written by Honor Vincent, lettered by Simon Bowland, “Riley’s Rebels” features art by Stewart K Moore. Follow two enslaved siblings, as they battle evil boomers and try to survive one of the most hostile places in the Judge Dredd universe.
Part One “Riley’s Rebels” features in Judge Dredd Megazine 474, on sale now in all good newsagents, some run by mutants, and is available through all good comic shops, and the 2000AD webshop, physical and digital.
Honor Vincent, whose credits also include “Tharg’s Future Shocks”, is currently working on a yet-to-be-announced story for 2000AD, and is the writer of Andraste, a comic series about the Boudican rebellion against Rome. You can read the first three issues on Zestworld and GlobalComix.
Stewart K. Moore’s previous work for 2000AD includes the 12-issue series “Defoe, The Divisor”, a “clock punk” zombie horror epic set in 17th-century London, written by Pat Mills. The series is now available in a 2000AD Ultimate Collection published by Hachette.
He’s also the artist behind several acclaimed graphic novels published by Clover Press. Project MK-Ultra: Sex, Drugs and the CIA is a mind-bending journey into one of the most secretive and controversial US government experiments in history. The complete edition comes with a pair of 3D glasses, all the better to enjoy the trip!
David Lloyd, the artist who co-created V for Vendetta, said of it: “This stuff is terrific and it’s obviously a labour of love.”
For something even darker, you should also check out Moore’s The Tragedie of Macbeth, a black-and-whitegraphic novel of Shakespeare’s tale of witchcraft, murder, and unbridled ambition.

Can’t say I’m over struck on Rileys Rebels. Neither the story nor the artwork grab my attention enough. Perhaps I’ll enjoy it more once the story has finished and I can revisit it and read it as a whole thing.
