Robert Harrop Designs releases Limited Edition Dominator and Quark figurines

Robert Harrop Designs have added limited edition Dominator and Quark robot figure to their limited edition Doctor Who range.

Both the Dominators and the Quarks appeared in the Patrick Troughton story The Dominators, first aired in 1968.

The Dominators were a rather dour and ruthless bunch, set on ‘dominating’ all before them with help of their slaves, the Quarks – robots cuboid in shape. with a spikey head and flip-out appendages. They were a very useful addition to the Dominators arsenal, from cartography to mining to general maiming.

It was hoped that these villains might prove as successful as the Daleks as a potential enemy of the Doctor – and as merchandise, too. However, although the Quarks did feature in TV Comic, and some later strips and novels, they didn’t catch on like their pepperpot peril rivals, or the Cybermen.

The Quarks returned to face the Doctor and Jamie, without their masters, in the pages of TV Comic. Both the Dominators and the Quarks have also featured in strips such as "Fires Down Below", in Doctor Who Weekly

A Limited Edition of only 250 figurines Worldwide, the figures have been traditionally hand-sculpted by Mike Rodgers and hand-painted from a paint pattern created by Harrop’s Head Studio Painter, Peggy Horton, at the Robert Harrop Designs Studios in Shropshire.

Each figurine will be packaged in a presentation box, individually numbered, including a Certificate of Authenticity to mark its provenance.

Robert Harrop Designs have been creating collectable hand painted figurines for over 30 years, and have gained a well earned reputation of high quality and accuracy of detail. Their extensive portfolio includes Thunderbirds, Wallace and Gromit, Beano, The Dandy and 2000AD, to name but a few.

A portfolio that is extremely nostalgic and very British, it’s no surprise
that Doctor Who would be a project that they wanted to embrace in their studios, and they have produced a huge range of fast-selling figures in partnership with the BBC, meticulously hand sculpted at I:12 scale, hand cast and hand painted figurines.
