
Royal Mail has announced the upcoming release of “Aardman Classics” – special stamps and collectibles featuring exclusive Aardman artwork, which will be released on Wednesday 19th October 2022.
The stamps are a tribute to the work of Aardman, which has been delighting audiences around the world for almost half a century with its much-loved characters and their animated adventures.
This Special Stamp issue features characters from Wallace & Gromit to Shaun the Sheep, and salutes the creative masterminds who have woven the stop-motion magic which continues to delight fans across the globe.
The collection includes a fabulous Presentation Park which tells the story of Aardman, a Stamp Set with eight stamps featuring fan favourites from iconic TV and big-screen adventures, an action-packed Miniature Sheet featuring exclusive Aardman artwork and a limited-edition Silver-Plated Medal Cover which also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the journey of animation from idea to audience.
Dive into the Aardman archive to relive the hilarious exploits, heart-warming tales and ‘cracking’ moments that have made this award-winning British studio one of the world’s favourite stop-motion storytellers.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
