Safari Festival returns to London next month (27th August). The brainchild of Breakdown Press, the event is a celebration of the new wave of alternative and art comics from the UK and beyond.
The festival is an opportunity for a curated group of cartoonists and publishers to exhibit and sell their artwork, prints and, primarily, comics, and for attendees to experience the best of UK comics’ avant-garde. The artists exhibiting have been selected for their innovative, fearless, diverse approaches to making comics; approaches to cartooning that Safari intends to champion.
Guests include: Simon Hanselmann, Fantagraphic Books, Joan Cornella, Anna Haifisch; plus Ally Russell, Anti Ghost Studio (Babak Ganjei, Rob Flowers, Tim Stevens), Becca Tobin, Bergen Street Comics Press, Breakdown Press (Joe Kessler, Antoine Cossé, Richard Short, Alexander Tucker, Zoë Taylor), Brigid Deacon, Comic Book Slumber Party, Comics Workbook, Crumb Cabin, Decadence Comics (Lando, Stathis Tsemberlidis, Emix Regulus), Evan Androutsopoulos, Eleni Kalorkoti, Esther McManus, Famicon Express (Leon Sadler, Stefan Sadler, Jon Chandler), Jazz Dad Books, Joseph P Kelly, Kus!, Lagon Revue (Alexis Beauclair, Sammy Stein), Landfill Editions, Laura Callaghan, Matt Swan, Lizzy Stewart, Luke Stewart, One Beat Zines, Otto Press, Retrofit Comics, Shaky Kane, Silica Burn (Will Tempest, Liam Cobb, Tom Kemp), Simon Moreton, Takayo Aikyama, Treasure Fleet, Wai Wai Pang and Will Sweeney.
