Star Trek has returned to the small screen with the highly different (for Trek, anyway) series – Star Trek Discovery. Set before the original 1960s show, this series, screening on Netflix in the UK, has an awful lot going on but still features some familiar races at odds with each other. You could win one of these gouache and watercolour original paintings in Graeme Neil Reid’s February Art Raffle.
On offer this month – the Klingons have had a reimagining but are still crazy for war and making sure their bloodline is everlasting. Two standout characters are L’Rell an interrogator and torturer and the albino Voq who became the ‘Torchbearer’ for T’Kuvma… it’s all very complicated. These two Klingons certainly have a time of it over the series, sacrificing so much but all in the name of Kahless the Unforgettable.
The career and emotional ups and downs of ‘Specialist’ (previously First Officer) Michael Burnham are many in Discovery and as a Human growing up with Vulcans she has hardly any time to remember to hide those feelings away. Resilience and determination certainly help her fight through the long list of hardships she endures and all the while hoping for a little show of love from Sarek her adopted Father.
Both paintings were painted on Arches Cold Pressed 300gsm watercolour paper at A6 (15cm x 10.5cm) size.
Entering couldn’t be easier, by pledging just $1 a month on Graeme’s Patreon site you get entered into the Art Raffle plus rewards including Work in Progress posts, Art Club with first chance to buy his art, postcards, PDF sketchbook and a discount at his Etsy Store. You can read more information about the raffle and see all the previous winners and prizes over at his blog.
• The competition will run until midnight (GMT) of the 28th February 2018, and the winner will be notified shortly afterwards. The winner will get to choose one of the two paintings as their prize and the other painting will be available to buy, first to Graeme’s Patreon supporters with an added discount and then in his Esty shop
