The second collection of Commando‘s Ramsey’s Raiders is on its way, and we have a sneak peek here for you of the full colour presentation of two classic stories featuring the Special Raiding Force!
The ragtag crew of mavericks commanded by the intrepid Captain Jimmy Ramsey are back in Ramsey’s Raiders Graphic Novel – Volume 2, in full graphic novel format, its original black-and-white interior artwork reborn with dazzling colour, with a cover from Ian Kennedy, taken from the cover of Commando #3874.
In addition to a strip from Ramsey’s Raiders regular Keith Page, this volume features the first of Ramsey’s Raiders stories by the alternative interior artist, the late Mike White, whose numerous British comics credits also include “Jackaroo Joe” for Valiant, his first regular strip, “Hell’s Highway” and “Kids Rule OK”, for Action, and “Roy of the Rovers”.
Published since 1961 by DC Thomson Media, Commando is Britain’s longest running war comic. The graphic novel brings together the third and fourth Raiders issues: #3869 “Ramsey’s Island Raiders” and #3874 ‘The Raider’s Revenge’ reprinted with eruptions of colour by colourist, Scott Dunbar, and lettering by Grant Wood.
The 136-page collection also includes biographies about the Ramsey’s co-creator and writer, Ferg Handley, interior artists; Mike White and Keith Page, and cover artist Ian Kennedy, alongside Kennedy’s original covers.
