The Show, the fantasy mystery feature film from author Alan Moore, directed by Mitch Jenkins (Show Pieces, Prisoners of Paradise), is heading to US cinemas nationwide for one night only, on 26th August 2021.
The film, described as “unrepentantly trippy Noir that assaults the senses, cackling all the while” by Kirsty Puchko for IGN, premiered at the Sitges Film Festival in 2020 and has been picked up for distribution in both the UK and US, with UK screenings following this year, ahead of a Blu-Ray release.
Director Mitch Jenkins has indicated The Show is currently being developed as a network TV series.
Shout! Studios announced it had acquired North American distribution rights to the mystery fantasy film back in March.
In The Show, Fletcher Dennis (played by Tom Burke), a man of many talents, passports and identities, arrives in Northampton – a strange and haunted town in the heart of England as dangerous as he is. On a mission to locate a stolen artifact for his menacing client, Fletcher finds himself entangled in a twilight world populated with vampires, sleeping beauties, Voodoo gangsters, noir private eyes, and masked avengers.
He quickly sinks into a bizarre and delirious black hole, that is hidden just beneath the surface of this seemingly quiet town. Soon enough Fletcher discovers that dreams and reality have been blurred and there might no longer be a real world to go back to…
The Show stars Tom Burke (Mank, War & Peace), Siobhan Hewlett (Sherlock, Canterbury Tales), Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals, Tony and Susan), Sheila Atim (Girl from the North Country, The Underground Railroad), Christopher Fairbank (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Fifth Element) and Alan Moore himself.

Director Mitch Jenkins has worked as a photographer for The Times magazine and in television. His collaboration with Alan Moore dates back to Show Pieces (2014), a film that compiled five short films.
“Alan Moore gives his fans doses of what they crave from him,” enthuses Kirsty Puchko of the film in an IGN review. “There’s a mind-bending detective story in a twisted realm of violence, vigilantes, corruption, and chaos. It’s a place overcrowded with deranged denizens and sticky visual details, booming with sound, be it the antagonizing EDM of a flirtatious club kid, the self-indulgent prattle of a cabbie, or the smirking revelations of a bedazzled demon.”
Written by Alan Moore, directed by Mitch Jenkins, The Show is Lex Films, EMU Films production with support of BFI and Lipsync. It is produced by Thomas Brown, Michael Elliott, Jim Mooney, with Siobhan Hewlett as Executive Producer and Simon Tindall as Director of Photography.

He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
