The hugely popular Comic Expo, spotlighting a variety of British comics publishers and creator, returns to Bristol in October – and tickets are available now.
Taking place at the Double Tree by Hilton, Bristol, on Saturday 7th October is a special one shot, one day event, conjuring memories of many similar occasions in Bristol down the years, this year promoting the work of Quantum publishers Time Bomb Comics, Titan Comics (Doctor Who, Conan) and The77Publications (The77, This is Haunted).
Aiming to promote literacy and the visual arts, announced comic creators on the growing guest list include Alan Davis (Captain Britain, Excalibur) and Liam Sharp, Batman, Death’s Head II, Wonder Woman), the latter by then back living in Britain once more and continuing his work creating his own incredible comic characters. Plus, Lee Carter, Kek-W and Rob Williams will be on hand to talk about their work for 2000AD, and more.
Some of the UK’s finest small press such as E.M.PRESS Publications, and creators will be at the event in October, including David Broughton, Joe Glass, Paul Grist, David Hitchcock, Gavin Mitchell, Andrew Richmond, and Huy Truong will be at the event.
Several new titles will be launched under the event’s EXpo EXclusive Spotlight banner.
A Worlds of Gerry Anderson original art display is part of the lineup, too, and prepare to be shocked in the Horror @ the EXpo feature – with Star Wars celebrated, too.
Thousands s of back issues and merchandise will be on offer in the Trader Zone, and there will be Goodie Bags for the early birds – plus, pick up an EXpo EXclusive convention book from Time Bomb Comics.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
