Alan Cowsill is the author of Zombie 18 and Punch Drunk Kisses. He hosts The Last Geek In Space podcast, recently chatting with artist Doug Braithwaite and CUD’s Will Potter.
Starting out as a comic dealer before becoming a writer and editor, he co-created Stormwatcher for Acme/Eclipse, Kilkane for Deadline magazine and was an editor at Marvel UK on Overkill, Biker Mice From Mars, X-Men, Action Man and the company’s Marvel line. He also wrote the first UK-originated Spider-Man strips for over a decade in Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures, for Panini UK’s Marvel line.
His other work includes Jackie Chan Adventures and the award-winning Classic Marvel Figurine Collection and DC Super Hero Collection. His books include Colin the Goblin, Warzone: Dark Eden, Chronopia, DC Comics: A Year by Year Visual Chronicle, Marvel Avengers Character Encyclopaedia, Avengers: The Ultimate Guide To Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Revolutionary War and the award winning graphic novel World War One.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
