This year, thanks to additional support from local business supporters, Macc-Pow!, now in its tenth year, is bringing American cartoonist and writer Tom Scioli to its festival in Macclesfield, Cheshire, in June.

Macc-Pow! will takes place in the heart of Macclesfield over the weekend of 27th – 29th June 2025, bringing comic fans the very best in comic art from around the world, supported by Macclesfield Town Council.
This year the event will be taking over three rooms in the glorious Macclesfield Town Hall, with two rooms exclusively for our fantastic market place. Rub shoulders with fellow creators, first-timers, and legends from the world of comics all under one roof.

Tom Scioli has a rich history of nearly 30 years working in comics. From initially receiving the Xeric Grant (founded by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator, Peter Laird) in 1999 for his Myth of 8-Opus comic book, he’s been a staple on the self-publishing scene. His work on the IDW series Transformers vs. GI JOE, alongside John Barber, catapulted him into the big leagues, firmly putting him on the radar of comics fans the world over.
Once described as the “Stanley Kubrick” of comics, Tom’s deadpan delivery, and unique approach to creating stories and art, make him a visionary creator in the world of comics. His recent work on biographies of both Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, and his Godzilla series from IDW, showcase a creator who is constantly evolving and creating new work.

He added his own title to Marvel’s Fantastic Four: Grand Design trilogy with his take on the history of the Fantastic Four, a comic reportedly influencing this year’s big screen outing for Marvel’s first family.
Tom’s Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre collection will be published by Idea & Design Works on 1st July, in which Godzilla takes on his greatest foes yet – Jay Gatsby, Sherlock Holmes, and the Time Machinist, in a graphic novel mash-up!
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Tom to our festival this year for his first-ever UK appearance, and are looking forward to him being a special part of everything we have planned,” says Macc-Pow director Marc Jackson. “We promised surprises for our tenth year, and this one is pretty epic!
“Come and meet Tom alongside a stellar line-up of truly international creators this June, for what promises to be a fantastic weekend for comic art in the heart of Cheshire!
Tom’s appearance would not have been made possible without the help and support from local businesses PR Jones, Propersound, Estates and Leisure, Chrome Motors, Henbury Travel, and Macclesfield Motors.
