Double Booked is a new family-friendly children’s book podcast from the minds of best-selling authors Eoin Colfer and Andrew Donkin, and makes for some gentle listening for anyone who loves books, graphic novels, comics, libraries, librarians, bookshops, second-hand bookshops and second-hand librarians.
The Podcast delves into the world of children’s books and storytelling. Enjoy book recommendations to inspire, pop-culture nostalgia, the world of weird science, interviews with authors and writing tips for anyone trying to unlock their next big idea.
Five episodes have been released so far, on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, the latest offering a “Weird Science” feature that takes a look at how flying birds might see the world, and an interview with special guest, Carnegie long-listed author M.G.Leonard.
Previous episodes include a chat about taming dragons with internationally renowned author and UK Children’s Laureate Cressida Cowell, and Eoin shares his love of the classic graphic novel V for Vendetta by Alan Moore and artist David Lloyd.

Andrew Donkin is a graphic novelist, who started out writing Doctor Who strips and has never looked back. His credits include several Artemis Fowl graphic novels, and much more, over eighty books in all, as well as co-creating the powerful graphic novel, ILLEGAL, with Eoin and Italian artist Giovanni Rigano.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
