The Twelfth Doctor by Lee Sullivan

Lee Sullivan – well known for his amazing Doctor Who art, but whose credits include Robococop and Judge Dredd – has kindly allowed us to add his first stab at drawing actor Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor to our Twelfth Doctor Challenge on our forum.

This competition will close on Thursday 5th September 2013 at 12 noon UK time, so get your thinking caps on and post your Twelfth Doctor designs on the downthetubes forum (or, if you’re not a member of our forum, email them to us to post via

Submission so far include art by Dan McDaid, Rob Davis, Kev Hopgood, Rob Moran and  Smuzz, to name but a few. View all the entries so far here on our downthetubes forum

The best design (in our view, which may or may not be influenced by the number of ‘likes’ it gets) will win some Doctor Who goodies from the downthtubes Vault of Stuff We Get Sent – and a copy of the amazing graphic novel 3 Seconds by Marc-Antoine Mathieu, out this month from Jonathan Cape (reviewed here).

Your art can be a character illustration or a page of comic strip art.

Not happy about the choice of actor? Think it should be someone else? A woman? An atomic powered green-skinned alien? Then send those designs in, too – but make it clear this is your entry in some way.

• Lee Sullivan will be appearing with various Doctor Who luminaries, including Louise Jameson and Sophie Aldred, at ‘The Science of the Time Lords’s event at the National Science Centre in Leicester on 16th November. More details here. He’s also a guest at EM-Con in Nottingham on 16th March 2014. More details here
