A Curious Coincidence for The Adventures of Charlotte Corday

If you’re enjoying the latest Charlotte Corday adventure, “The Fulcanelli Conundrum”, here’s a curiosity spotted in an auction that will add weight to the research undertaken for the strip by its creator, Dan Dare and Thunderbirds artist Keith Page.

The latest Charlotte Corday story starring his time-travelling, multiverse-spanning heroine opens with a Nazi spy taking pictures of carvings on the walls of the Notre Dame cathedral in pre-World War Two Paris.

Later today, Wednesday 30th September, these “reconnaissance photos” taken in London in the 1930s, are being offered by British Bespoke Auctions in an auction, alongside a range of otherwise innocuous antiques and collectibles.

The lot is described as follows: “85 black and white vintage photographs of London, understood to be taken for the purposes of German reconnaissance. The pictures depict ordinary Londoners going about their daily business, each pictures is approx 17 x 12 cms, a few with German titles. Approx 37 have staining and the rest are either fine or with much lighter staining.”

The auction lot is here, offered by British Bespoke Auctions – registration is required to bid
