ComPalComics offers Dalek Playsuit, Dandy Number One in latest auction

The latest Compalcomics March catalogue closes on on Sunday 8th March 2015 starting at 2.00pm, featuring a huge number of both early and modern Dandy comics, artwork including “Oor Wullie” and various IPC/Fleetway covers – and a rare Dalek Playsuit!

There’s also some Dan Dare original two page artwork by Frank Hampson for Eagle, which is expected to sell fro at least £1200.

There are 227 lots in the catalogue, 173 of them British titles with Beano, Dandy and Magic ruling the roost. There’s a Dandy Comic No 1 in pretty good nick at lot 8 followed by a clutch of the Dandy war issues from 1940-42, offered in small consecutive lots. Then an unrivalled group of early Beano comics comprising No 4 and Nos 7-14, all in Very Fine grades along with Beano Book No 1 and complete years for 1948 and 1949. Not forgetting Magic comics 2, 3 and 4, all in Fine condition. Plenty of rare DC Thomson beauties to choose from there.

The 1950s include complete runs of Captains Marvel and Jr. and two Dan Dare / Frank Hampson artworks from Eagle. There are also bound volumes of Film Fun, Hotspur and Wizard.

The 1960s highlight TV Century 21 No1 with free gift Secret Decoder and TV21 badge (I recall having to send away for mine, long lost!), “Oor Wullie” original artwork and publisher’s file copies of Tiger and Valiant.

The US section focuses on Golden Age Batman, Detective and EC rarities with spotlight on Weird Science 12 (#1) from 1950. Early glamour mags lighten the mood and there are some key ‘Uncle Stan’ Marvel issues from the 1960s.
