Preston Comic Con Returns in August

Preston Comic Con 2016

Preston Comic Con will return to Preston Guild Hall on 6th August 2016.

No guests have been announced yet for the event but with a great cosplay element, last year’s event was well received, including media stars such as Star Wars Kenny Baker and Doctor Who‘s Sylvester McCoy and others.

2015’s comic creator line up included Lee Carter, Andy Diggle, Tom Foster, Dave Taylor and Andrew Wildman.

In advance of the Comic Con, actor Hassani Shapi (who played a Jedi Master Eeth Koth in Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace) will be appearing at the Star Wars Fan Fun Day at Burnley Football Club on 2nd May, organised by the same team, along with Jeremy Bulloch.

Actor Hassani Shapi

Hassani Shapi is an actor born in Kenya and of Baluchi, Kenyan, Belgium and Zairois descent. He’s had the acting bug since he was five, when at the end of the school term he was asked to do the twist on stage to Chuck Berry’s “Come on, Let’s Twist Again”. This, he thought, is where he would always like to be.

However, life does not always take one through the path that one plans and his father certainly had a different agenda. He trained to be a teacher at Kenya Science Teacher’s College in Nairobi, Kenya, then went on to teach for a year before going on to do veterinary medicine, ending up with a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Surgery from Maisons-Alfort, Paris. However, the acting bug kept rearing it’s head throughout this period, and any chance he had he would be involved with the stage.

It was only after working in a veterinary clinic in Paris for a year that Hassani dropped everything to go into the acting world professionally. Since then, he has been consistently acting both in Italy and in England, appearing in genre films such as The Prince of Persia, The World is Not Enough and Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace.
