Sneak Peek: Midnight Tea by Jenika Ioffreda

One upcoming new independent comic that caught my eye on social media recently is a new project from Jenika Ioffreda, one of the creators I met for the first time at Malta Comic Con last year.

Jenika’s new project, Midnight Tea, will be on sale soon and we have a sneak peek at some of the pages, including some of her pencils.

Jenika is the creator of the hugely-popular Vampire Free Style series – described by one reviewer as “the spiritual cousin to the classic Goth comic, Gloomcookie – and Midnight Tea is an all-new tale of ghosts, magic and dark secrets. Enter the world of Miss Amabella Lovedy where nothing is as it seems…

Midnight Tea follows the adventures of Miss Amabella Lovedy (Amy for short), a 19th century girl who can see ghosts and those of her friends,” Jenika tells us, “a clever street urchin and his loyal dog, her grumpy housekeeper, a handsome duke and his mysterious companion.

“The ghost she is asked to investigate is connected to a dark secret from Amy’s past. A secret someone wants to keep very closely guarded. Between mysteries, magic, intrigues, midnight rendevouz and tea, the lives of Amy and her friends will never be the same.”

The book looks great, and if you’re a fan of Vampire Free Style – how could you not like that wonderful cat? – then you should really check this new title out.

Midnight Tea and Jenika’s other books are all sold through her website www.neptunefactory.com and at all comic book conventions she will attend around UK and Europe. Some comic shops also wisely stock her books
