If you’re a fan of the novels, comics and other creations of Alan Moore, then you should definitely check out the new edition of Alan Moore: Portraits of an Extraordinary Gentleman.

This celebration of the acclaimed British author on the occasion of his 70th birthday has been conceived and edited by smoky man, who publishes the Alan Moore World blog, with assistance from Omar Martini, Gary Spencer Millidge and Angelo Secci.
It follows the publication of a previous 352-page edition published by Gary Spencer Millidge via Abiogenesis Press in 2003 to celebrate his 50th year, which raised almost $37,000 (over £29,000) for charity.
The 150-page illustrated volume, published in English, contains short essays, memories and portraits by 50+ contributors including Gary Spencer Millidge (who is also the cover artist, after a photograph by Joe Brown), Iain Sinclair (who provides the foreword), Peter Hogan (afterword), Paul Gravett, Russell Willis, John Coulthart, Koom Kankesan, Gene Ha, Zander Cannon, Hilary Barta, Jacen Burrows,Eduardo Risso, Hunt Emerson, Dan McDaid, David Hitchcock, Jeffrey Lewis, Werther Dell’Edera and many more.

100 per cent of the net profits proceed from this book are to be donated to the NGO Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
“[Alan Moore: Portraits of an Extraordinary Gentleman is] a DIY production, a labour of love, with no publisher attached, so it’s available only on Amazon stores,” says smoky man. “It’s the solution that we found to manage distribution and make the book available to all the readers interested, word wide.
“It needed a lot of hard work and I couldn’t have done it without the amazing contribution of all the artists and writers who generously answered the call.”
