If you live in Chorlton, or, know by its grander monkiker, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, a suburban area of Manchester, or simply love urban sketch art, then you may like to check out a new sketch book by artist Len Grant.

Len has been making sketches around Chorlton for about a year now, which is just a bike ride from his home, and he’s currently seeking support on Kickstarter to publish a sketchbook of them all together.
By supporting Len Grant’s Chorlton Sketchbook, you’ll help him raise the funds to pay for the printing of an A5 hardback collection, running to 104 pages, and get a mention in the back.

This is his fourth Sketch Book, following on from The Burton Road Sketchbook, The Rusholme Sketcher, the “Curry Mile” of Manchester, and Bars and Barbers: Sketches from the Northern Quarter.
As part of the Chorlton Arts Festival, some of Len’s delightful sketches are currently on display at the Smoak coffee shop, opposite Unicorn on Manchester Road, until the end of the summer.
If you’re interested in trying your hand at urban sketching yourself, Len has been running courses for beginners for several years now.
“It’s a gentle step-by-step approach to putting pen to paper,” he says, “and building up the courage to go out there and capture the urban scene. It’s a lot of fun.
“For individuals I organise two or three each year, usually in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, and advertise them on my social platforms. If you’re interested, you can email meto be informed when the next one is happening.”
