This week’s Comics & Comic Art Signature Auction at Heritage Auctions (17th – 19th June 2021) includes comic artwork by a number of British artists – so many, in fact, it’s impossible to feature them all! But look out for work that includes a stunning 2000AD “Judge Anderson” cover by Brett Ewins, plus art by Brian Bolland, John Higgins and Kev Hopgood, alongside American artists that include Jack Kirby, Marshall Rogers, Alex Toth and many more.

Part of the the auction attracting attention are items from the Promise Collection, the highest-quality pedigree collection of US comics, book for book, to debut in the hobby over the last 25 years.
Featuring more than 5000 high-grade Golden Age comic books, many of these treasures haven’t seen the light of day since they were purchased off newsstands in the 1940s. The collection was assembled by a young boy who grew up, went to war and never returned. For decades, the books were kept safe by his brother, who vowed to keep watch over the comics should anything happen to his sibling on the battlefield. Hence its moniker, proof of a promise kept.

With a depth and scope that is almost unparalleled, nearly two-thirds of the books are predicted to stand as the finest-known copies for any particular comic represented in the collection.
About 300 of the books will debut in Heritage’s 17th – 19th June 2021 Comics & Comic Art Signature Auction, and sales from this extraordinary assemblage will continue through 2022.
