Comic creator Edward Taylor prepare to enter the Circles of Hell!

Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Frying Pan: St. Jerome, a Cat and the 7 Circles of Hell is the latest book by prize-winning comic artist Edward Taylor – and he needs your help to get the graphic novel published.

Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Frying Pan: St. Jerome, a Cat and the 7 Circles of Hell by Edward Taylor

St. Jerome and the Cat stumble into the Land of Milk & Honey, get stranded in Nowheresville, are Swallowed up in Shadows and fall into the realm of a Nasty Neighbour who then creates a Splintered World. They suffer Frightful Cleanliness, before watching on helplessly as the Carnival Folds...

“My new book, the second featuring St. Jerome and the Cat, is a comic, absurd journey through these worlds,” Edward tells us. “It runs to 114 full-colour pages – and one of the pages has a hole in it!”

Throughout his first “St. Jerome” book, Edward displayed an understanding of the comic form, of comic storytelling, in such a way that he cleverly breaks it without missing a beat, or losing his readers. It’s just… glorious. So I’m looking forward to this next one!

Edward Taylor, also creator of Godzilla’s Lockdown Diary and Godzilla Tries to Get Out, won first prize in the 17th Manga Jiman competition hosted and organised by the Embassy of Japan in the UK last year, for his eight-page story, “St. Jerome 2.0”. He was praised for his unique style, innovative storytelling techniques and hours of dedication, which all helped him to first place.

He’s spent nearly 40 years touring nationally and internationally with the Whalley Range All Stars, a street theatre company he formed with Sue Auty. Drawing plays an important part in the early stages of every company production.

As usual, rather than go the route of crowdfunding, Edward is taking preorders now to get Out of the Frying Pan published. Priced £20 plus postage costs, it will be printed in a limited edition.

“You can pre-pay me for a copy and if you’re feeling generous you can add a bit on to help pay for the time I spent writing and drawing the book. It all helps,” says Edward.

Contact Edward at edward@wras.org.uk  and he will send details on how you can pay via Bank Transfer or Paypal to get your copy of Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Frying Pan: St. Jerome, a Cat and the 7 Circles of Hell
