Compal’s March 2026 catalogue has opened for bidding, offering a strong selection of British comics and comic art, including work by Joe Colquhoun, Frank Hampson and Ron Turner, and a wide range of American Golden Age and Silver Age comics.
There’s the usual lots of BEANO and The Dandy in bulk, and a lot more besides. Fans of British girls comics will certainly find plenty to bid on, and Ron Turner and Joe Colquhoun art lovers will be delighted with the range of art on offer. Commando readers have the opportunity to pick up early issues, if their wallets are full, and Marvel UK fans are already battling to win a copy of the first issue of Mighty World of Marvel No. 1, published back in 1972, complete with pristine iron on transfer “Hulk” gift!

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
