You’ve not been to Lawless before – what have you heard about it as convention? What are you expecting?
I never have expectations. I prefer to just go with the flow.
How did you go about securing an invitation to Lawless? Did you reach out to Su Hadrell to pitch yourself as an attendee or did she get in touch with you directly?
At ‘To be Continued’ last year, John Wagner asked why I hadn’t attended Lawless before? I said I hadn’t been invited. John asked if I’d go if I was invited? I said I would. A month or so later Su sent an invitation.
There’s a strong 2000AD influence at Lawless – but what comics were you reading as a child? Do you read 2000AD these days?
My earliest comics were probably The Dandy and Beano, but Valiant and Eagle were the most memorable.
If you have one…who’s your favourite 2000AD character (and why)?
No Favourites. I liked the tone, variety and inventiveness of 2000AD.
Are there other guests who you’re particularly looking forward to seeing at Lawless and, if so, why?
It would be nice to catch up with friends and colleagues, some of who I haven’t seen in forty years.
What can folks expect to find on your Lawless table? Sketches? Prints? Original art? Comics? I know you’ve produced a sketchbook in the past – any chance you’ll have copies of that at Lawless?
