This week the Awesome Comics Podcast team are joined by the founder and publisher of Alterna Comics, Peter Simeti, to talk about his journey in comics and what the publisher are trying to achieve in the modern publishing world.
Founded in 2006, Alterna Comics titles are distributed worldwide in print and digital formats and in several languages.
Founder Peter Simeti was in the headlines last year when, as Bleeding Cool reported, he had “the absolute audacity to go on Twitter to give ‘thanks’ to his many, many followers no matter who they may be, for supporting his art, his business, his employees and contributors.”
He has drawn fire, however, for actions around Comicsgste, which have angered some creators.
In 2017, Alterna launched its “Newsprint is Back” campaign, which continues to this day.
The interview covers Alterna’s line, which includes titles on sale now in all good comic shops such as the ongoing Unit 44 and their new launches Feast or Famine, ICMYI and The Actual Roger, and a look at the the overall state of the modern comics publishing world.
If thats not enough, there’s plenty of books to check out and comics fun to be had, too!
Great stuff to check out this week: Alterna Comics, Peter Simeti, UK Stores that stock Alterna, Alterna’s titles including The Chair, Trespasser, Blood Realm, Mother Russia and Tinsel Town; the upcoming True Believers Comic Festival 2019, Incredible Doom, the he acclaimed series about early 90’s kids, Dylan Dog – Chess of Death, and the US publisher of many Bonelli comics, Epicenter Comics.
