Creating Comics the Awesome Way: Generating a Buzz for your Comic

Awesome Comics Podcast Episode 5

Episode five of the new UK Small Press Awesome Comics Podcast has just been released. In this segment, the hosts Vince Hunt (The Red Mask from Mars), Dan Butcher (Vanguard) and Tony Esmond (downthetubes contributor and reviewer) are reviewing a stack of small press comics and chatting about how you can create a buzz about your comic.

You have a comic and want to promote it? How do you take that first step into that swirling sea of small press buzz? These days a big chunk of your time is spent promoting the book that you finally have in your hands.

The boys discuss what the best way is to contact review sites,  throwing around the too much / too little attempts at creating a social media buzz, and discuss the etiquette at conventions and which ones are the best to attend.

They also discuss some great small press releases, list upcoming events, talk about a rubbish movie or two and answer some questions posed by listeners.

  1. Sometimes you gotta take the bad with the good when it comes to reviews. But so long as you are being constructive about what you had a problem with in the review, then it won’t be an issue.
