DC Thomson has some BEANO and Dandy treats out in May

DC Thomson has three comic treats for fans of BEANO and The Dandy out next month, including a Bash Street Kids collection.

Beano Presents: The Bash Street Kids, featuring art by much-missed artist David Sutherland, drops into bookshops and other outlets on 1st May. Branded “The Ultimate Series”, given this new book was initially offered as “Volume One” before a cover revision, we’re assuming more are in the works…

The Bash Street Kids are the class every teacher dreads… and it’s just got worse for the long-suffering teacher of Class 2B! Danny, Toots, Plug and the team are joined by three new arrivals – Mahira, Stevie and Khadija – who are just as fun-loving and rebellious as they are, and together they’re going to give Teacher a lesson in maximum chaos!

This first volume of Bash Street Kids comics collects together 68 pages of hilarious classroom chaos, illustrated by legendary artist David Sutherland.

This BSK release is quickly followed by the Beano Summer Activity Special 2024 and The Dandy Summer Special, both out on 15th May, which should both be available in your local newsagents and supermarkets, as well as via online outlets.

DC Thomson haven’t revealed what’s included in the new strips in this, or who’s in them – but they’ll probably start teasing details soon on their social media.

John Freeman

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.

He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
