British indie publisher Dirty Rotten Comics are now taking submissions for their summer anthology. the final deadline is 30th June 2015.
Regular readers will recall that downthetubes team member Antony Esmond enthused about their most recent edition, noting issue three of this anothology series was pretty darn good, but Issue Four, featuring the work of some 40 creators was “another step again in terms of upping the quality stakes“.
The team looking for comics from UK creators who can offer “unhinged tales of modern life, observations from the stray to the profound and everything in between.
“Stuff that’s weird, funny, satirical or surreal is all welcome,” they tell us.
Stories should be between one and four pages long and produced in black and white/greyscale at A3 or A4 size. Final pages should be sent as a high resolution JPEG or PDF, at no less than 300dpi resolution.
Dirty Rotten Comics is an alternative comics anthology, published four times a year. The team are committed to supporting small press artists from the UK who have something pertinent to say.
“We believe that artistic merit is founded not just on aesthetic quality, but on high-quality writing, risk-taking and commitment. Weird, funny, satirical, surreal; whatever the angle, we are interested in giving exposure to artists of all kinds, regardless of their status or experience.”

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
