The Doctor Who Magazine Yearbook 2024 is available now from selected branches of WHSmith and some supermarkets, and offers a host of great features, some sure to appeal to fans of the title’s long-running comic strip.
Alongside items such as a guide to a year in the life of the stars of Doctor Who, interviews, a report from the Doctor Who at 60 musical celebration at Cardiff’s Millennium Centre, a report on the new exhibition of Who props and memorabilia at Gunnersbury Park Museum, Doctor Who writers discuss the last 12 months of books and comics, and writer Alan Barnes and artist Lee Sullivan discuss their epic Fourteenth Doctor strip, Liberation of the Daleks, now available in collection.
Plus, in an interview with Helen Randle on making the BBC’s vast catalogue of information available to the public, there are some tantalising images of some of the paperwork documenting the creation of “The Daleks” strip, which featured in TV Century 21 in the 1960s.
One of my favourite elements of this new Yearbook, however, has to be Robert Sienicki’s four full page strip recreations of scenes from the 60th Anniversary Specials. He’s done a smashing job on these – and says he hopes to do more.
A splendid round up of Doctor Who’s 60th year.
